Mahindra has expanded its electric SUV portfolio with the BE 6 SPORTEQ, a new technology- and performance-focused version of the BE 6. The model was launched in India on August 15, 2026, and deliveries are scheduled to begin on August 26.
The headline change is Mahindra’s Battery as a Service, or BaaS, ownership structure. The BE 6 SPORTEQ starts at Rs 11.45 lakh with BaaS, with battery usage charged at Rs 3.75 per kilometre. Mahindra is therefore offering buyers a way to reduce the initial vehicle outlay while paying separately for battery usage.
The SPORTEQ also pushes the BE 6 further into software and connected technology. Mahindra highlights a three-screen, coast-to-coast digital cockpit, six TEQ Suites and TEQ_Talk, its conversational technology developed with Google Gemini. Other announced features include karaoke, gaming, Dolby support, Drift Mode, Acceleration Boost and a digital key.
The product arrives at a time when Indian EV competition is moving beyond battery capacity alone. Software, ownership models, personalisation and performance are increasingly becoming part of the EV buying decision.
For buyers considering BaaS, the important calculation is annual running. A driver covering high kilometres may need to compare the per-kilometre battery charge against the higher upfront cost of an outright battery purchase.
