Mahindra Last Mile Mobility has crossed the four-lakh electric-vehicle sales milestone in India, according to a report published on August 20, 2026.
The company says it has remained India’s number-one electric commercial-vehicle manufacturer for four consecutive financial years. Its electric last-mile portfolio includes models from the Treo, ZEO, Zor Grand, e-Alfa and other ranges.
The milestone is important because India’s EV story is broader than private passenger cars. Commercial three-wheelers and small electric cargo vehicles can have very different economics from personal cars, particularly when vehicles are driven intensively every day.
High utilisation can make electric commercial vehicles attractive because electricity costs and maintenance requirements can potentially be lower than those of conventional powertrains. However, the actual business case still depends on financing, charging access, battery warranty, payload, route distance and downtime.
Mahindra says its electric commercial vehicles have collectively covered more than nine billion kilometres. That provides an indication of the scale at which electric mobility is already operating in India’s last-mile economy.
CarsHubIndia takeaway: The milestone shows that EV adoption in India is not confined to premium private vehicles. High-usage commercial applications remain one of the country’s most important real-world electric-mobility segments.
